KN HOLDINGS PARTNERS WITH SAMSUNG C&T TO DEVELOP 864 MW FLOATING SOLAR POWER PROJECTS

As part of the State visit to South Korea, on the morning of August 12 in Seoul, the Ministry of Finance of Vietnam, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy of South Korea (MOTIE), the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), and the Embassy of Vietnam in South Korea jointly organized the Vietnam–Korea Economic Forum under the theme “Cooperation in Developing Production Chains in the New Era!”
The Forum was attended by General Secretary Tô Lâm, South Korean Prime Minister Kim Min Seok, senior leaders from both countries, and more than 400 leading enterprises with over 500 delegates from Vietnam and South Korea.

General Secretary Tô Lâm and Prime Minister Kim Min Seok witnessed the signing of cooperation agreements between energy and industrial enterprises.
At the forum, KN Holdings signed a memorandum of understanding with Samsung C&T to implement three floating solar power projects at the KN Srepok 3, KN Ialy Gia Lai, and KN Ialy Kon Tum hydropower reservoirs, with a total planned capacity of 864 MW.
The projects will adopt the Direct Power Purchase Agreement (DPPA) mechanism, giving priority to supplying clean electricity to large consumers. This will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions, promote the use of renewable energy, and contribute to Vietnam’s green energy transition goals.

Ms. Lê Nữ Thùy Dương – Vice Chairwoman of KN Holdings, and Mr. Heo Wook – Vice President of Global Investment, Samsung C&T (second from left), exchanged the cooperation agreement.
A representative of KN Holdings stated that Samsung C&T (a member company of the Samsung Group) is an enterprise with extensive experience in renewable energy, with large-scale projects worldwide. The two sides will work together to develop KN Holdings’ large-scale floating solar power projects using advanced technology, ensuring efficiency in both investment and operation, thereby contributing to a clean and sustainable energy source for Vietnam.
The signing of the MOU at the Vietnam–Korea Economic Forum, a high-level event co-chaired by leaders of the two countries, marks an important step in KN Holdings’ clean energy development strategy. It also demonstrates the company’s alignment with the new energy cooperation agenda between Vietnam and Korea, in line with both nations’ commitments to emission reduction and green economic growth.
